I think if we all keep quiet for a while we may hear something - (After McCahon)
This series references the 1969 work by Colin McCahon, titled “I Think if We All Kept Quiet For a While We Might Hear Something”. The banality of the First World of endless messages, directives, incentives is suffused in click bait…..our attention is always sought. The work of McCahon’s references Peter Hooper’s poem “Listen”, from “Journey towards an elegy and other poems. The extended inscription follows:
I THINK IF WE / ALL KEPT QUIET/FOR A WHILE WE MIGHT HEAR/ SOMETHING A CHILD WHIMPER/ A BEE TUMBLE A/ BLOSSOM OR EVEN AT/ EARLY DAWN/ THE COCK CROW/THRICE.
